     img222The target villages experience a rapid health transi-tion with a rising burden of LSRD/Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) affecting potentially the productive years of life. The prevalence of Non-communicable diseases like hypertension, diabetes and heart diseases has been established as a clear threat not only to human health, but also to development and economic growth. Keeping this in mind massive health awareness activities were conducted in village level, referred for screening also promoted health practices and cam seeking behavior through education with quality services at Catherine Booth Hospital, Nagercoil.

AWARENESS ON BLOOD PRESURE /HEART DISEASE AND DIABETES
    img22223 192 Sensitization program were conducted on diabetes and Hypertension. A toltal of 4639 members paricipted in the program. To assess the knowledge of the members pre and post tests were conducted. IEC materials were also issued to the participants. The participants understood the preventive measures, causes, symptoms and treatment. Also ICEP staff imparted the knowledge on balance diet and physical exercises for prevention and control the diseases. As a result of the sensitization, the members’ knowledge level increased and health seeking behavior improved. Identified persons were referred to The Salvation Army Catherine Booth Hospital and other hospitals for treatment.
